I am about to start the next phase of my current game and am lost.

I am sending my PC's the F.C.o.A (Free City of Atlantis) which is a floating morass of ships based off of Snow Crash. I need to do a map and am lost. Are there any good programs to do this? etc.
Any advice would be welcome.

Well you have a couple of options that you can look at. The first one would be a commercial app called Campaign Cartographer which retails for around $44.95USD or Dundjinni, which goes for around $40USD. Alternately, you could go with AutoRealm or Dungeon Crafter, which are both free. Your decision should be based on a couple of considerations though. First off, how's your skill in graphic design? If it's decent enough, any paint program would do. Then there are things like learning curve. Dungeon Crafter is tile based but it is cake to use. The only thing, is that most of the graphics in DC3 are medieval fantasy, so you may have to do so customization. Autorealm is a bit more difficult to learn, but there are a lot of tutorials on the web. All three apps can be googled. Best of luck :)

I'll second the use of Dundjinni, although it's Java can be a bit buggy. I upgraded the java on my machine and suddenly the cursor was horribly offset when using Dundjinni. Dunno if they ever got that fixed.

But, the maps I created for Autumn Blade were done in dundjinni.

Whatever you create for this, I would love to see it.
